Animal adaptation - Different Beaks For Different Jobs
Today we were looking at why birds have different sorts of beaks. We used kitchen utensils to imitate a birds beak and the method they use to gather their food.
Filter feeder
Breaking or clipping at shoots and grasses
Using a bristly tongue to drink nectar from a flower
A small sharp beak for picking up seeds and insects
Pushing a long beak down into the ground to search for worms and insects
Follow up activity that we did

Trip To The Auckland Central Library
On Thursday the 29th of May we visited the Auckland Central Library. The children's area is quite new and is very cool. There are lots of awesome books to read and fun places to read them. We went up stairs to the George Grey Specialist section where we saw the smallest and the oldest books the library have. We were even allowed to have our morning tea in the library. Later we got to go down into the lower levels of the library where they store lots of books and other things such as maps. It was amazing. We also did a quiz and a rebus and Mrs Venville read us some stories.

Vector Stay Safe around Electricity Presentation
Today we had a presentation by Tracey from Vector about how to stay Stay Safe around Electricity. We are going to talk to our parents tonight about what we learnt and find out where the switchboard is in our house so that if there is an emergency we know how to turn the power off.
